There are many different ways in which you can decorate your fireplace, you can hang a picture above it, place ornaments on it or keep it minimalistic with nothing but a clock above it. Whatever items you choose, they should always be carefully selected, and should only be added if they fit in with the look and feel of your fireplace.

Let’s say you have a traditional cast iron fireplace. You’re not going to be doing it any justice with modern accessories like a digital clock, a high definition colour photograph or a contemporary vase. To complement the fireplace, you may want to choose a rural clock, a traditional painting or a black and white photo that’s reflective of the Victorian era. Of course, there are times when you can blend contemporary items with traditional items, but you have to be careful when doing so, otherwise your fireplace may look a little bit mismatched.
